WiFi Setup — Connect Speaker to WiFi

How to connect your Bose SoundTouch speaker to a WiFi network using the Bosman App. The setup uses the speaker's own WiFi network (SoftAP).

Prerequisites

Note: WiFi Compatibility

If your speaker cannot find the WiFi network or fails to connect, check your router's WiFi security settings. Bose SoundTouch speakers only support WPA2 for WiFi. WPA3 is not supported.

  • Make sure your WiFi uses WPA2 and that pure WPA3 mode is not enabled.
  • Disable PMF (Protected Management Frames) if possible.
  • Communication between devices on the same WiFi network must be allowed. Client isolation or similar blocking settings must not be enabled.
  • On a FRITZ!Box, this is usually under WiFiSecurityAdditional Security Settings. Enable "Active wireless devices may communicate with each other".

Step 1: Connect to the Speaker

  • Open the Bosman App and go to Settings"Set up new speaker".
  • Open your phone's WiFi settings.
  • Connect to the network "Bose ST ..." of the speaker.
  • Return to the Bosman App. The app automatically detects that you are connected to the speaker.

Step 2: Scan for WiFi Networks

  • Once connected to the speaker, tap "Scan WiFi networks".
  • The speaker scans for available WiFi networks nearby.
  • Alternatively, you can enter the network name (SSID) manually.

Step 3: Select WiFi Network

  • Select your home WiFi from the list of discovered networks.
  • For a secured network: Enter the WiFi password.
  • Tap "Connect".

Step 4: Wait for Setup

  • The app sends the credentials to the speaker.
  • The speaker exits setup mode and connects to your WiFi network.
  • The app automatically switches back to your home WiFi and searches for the speaker on the network.
  • This process can take up to one minute.

Step 5: Name & Finish

  • Once the speaker is found on the network, you can give it a custom name.
  • You can also skip this step.
  • The speaker then appears in the device list of the Bosman App.

Tip: If the app doesn't automatically find the speaker after setup, make sure your phone is connected back to your home WiFi. You can check this in your phone's WiFi settings.
